Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone, contrary to some enduring Western myth, is an extremely peaceful and welcoming country.

The country prides itself of hosting the first Sub-Saharan Africa's university, Fourah Bay College, founded in 1827.

With the civil war ending only in 2001, though, it is still among the poorest countries in the world, ranked Seventh poorest in the UN Human Development Index.
